Ways to protect yourself from an unwanted pregnancy include:

Abstinence is the only 100 percent way to completely reduce the risk of having a child or contracting an STI.

Barrier methods such as the male and female condoms, a diaphragm, sponge, cervical cap or spermicide.

Hormonal methods such as oral contraceptives (the pill), the patch, vaginal contraceptive ring, a shot or injection, an IUD, an implantable rod or sterilization.

HFP also offers emergency contraception that can be used if you do not use birth control or your regular birth control fails. It should not be used as a regular form of birth control.
